About The Position

Onera is hiring a hands-on Systems Administrator for its healthcare cloud-based platform to join their USA team on a unique and ambitious mission to better healthcare. The role involves ensuring the availability, performance, and security of their US-based cloud environments, healthcare applications, and IT systems, supporting the organization's business and technical requirements. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary, energetic, young, and internationally minded scale-up team, working closely with peer customer support specialists, clinical specialists, software engineers, and data and algorithm experts. This role is key to the success of Onera’s next-generation sleep diagnostic service and offers a great opportunity for professional growth in an ambitious and fast-growing scale-up. The position is open to candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone to ensure sufficient overlap with the Europe-based team. Onera Health is a leader in transforming sleep medicine and remote monitoring, with breakthrough diagnostic solutions and services poised to help millions struggling with sleep-related ailments and impact other medical fields by monitoring chronic conditions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cloud and IT system management, with at least 3 years in a healthcare setting.
  • Good understanding and know-how of AWS services (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, IoT Core, DynamoDB, S3, Batch, EC2, SageMaker, etc.), having worked with at least a subset of these.
  • Hands-on experience using AWS security, compliance, and monitoring services (AWS WAF, Config, GuardDuty, CloudWatch, Cloud Trail).
  • Proficiency with server administration, virtualization technologies, and IT security.
  • Proven experience working within HIPAA, SOC2, and HITECH frameworks.
  • Deep familiarity with NIST 800-53 (FedRAMP) and Trust Services Criteria (SOC2).
  • Hands-on experience maintaining systems under SOC2 Type II and FedRAMP (NIST 800-53) frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Windows Admin, Docker, and Scripting (Python/Bash/Typescript).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS SysOps Administrator Certification, AWS Security certification, ITIL) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cloud-based product used by (Healthcare Provider) customers.
  • Operate and maintain AWS infrastructure supporting the AWS-based platform used by healthcare providers.
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of production environments.
  • Support the EU-based engineering team in deploying code to US production environments.
  • Provide input and requirements to the development team on backup, disaster recovery, security, monitoring, operations, release, and deployment best practices.
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for system outages.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for US-based infrastructure alerts and security incidents.
  • Maintain detailed system documentation and operational runbooks and playbooks.
  • Contribute to the definition of procedures, policies, and work instructions.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot cloud-based application issues, ensuring timely resolution for customers.
  • Help define and shape the procedures, policies, and work instructions required for achieving SOC2 and FedRamp certifications.
  • Lead the technical preparation and evidence collection for first-time and annual SOC2 audits and FedRAMP authorization packages.
  • Ensure the US cloud infrastructure remains in a 'continuously compliant' state, managing automated patching and configuration hardening required for HIPAA, SOC2, and FedRAMP.
  • Manage IT systems and provide/revoke access to employees (e.g., EntraID).
  • Procure, configure, and manage all US-based company hardware, including laptops and mobile devices, using Microsoft Intune.
  • Implement and regularly test data backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor systems performance, uptime, and security, applying patches, updates, and security fixes when needed.
  • Act as the first line of support for all US employees, resolving issues with hardware, software, and network connectivity.
  • Register, monitor, and resolve tickets in Jira Service Management.
  • Meticulously document IT procedures and keep IT records in line with procedures.
  • Create and update user guides and training materials.
