About The Position

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Mid-Level System Administrator to support our Huntsville, AL location. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements. The administrator will perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages, scheduling them in accordance with IT policies. They will monitor and tune systems for optimal performance, ensure data integrity through appropriate hardware and software solutions, and manage system backups and database archives for recoverability. The position also involves developing standard operating procedures, conducting audits for compliance, and maintaining a comprehensive configuration database and supporting documentation.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience
  • Microsoft Windows, Active Directory
  • Understanding of NIST 800 series publications and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required to perform this work.
  • Ability to maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers, including web servers.
  • Performing software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Scheduling installations and upgrades in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring and tuning the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensuring workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
  • Ensuring data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Developing and promoting standard operating procedures.
  • Conducting routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
