About The Position

The System Administrator is responsible for the overall upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of our organization's computer systems and networks. This role is critical for ensuring high availability, security, and minimal downtime.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of Windows Server and familiarity with Linux
  • Deep knowledge with AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Proficiency in languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Deep knowledge of LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Deep knowledge of all standard business software including O365 features and licensing.
  • Working knowledge of VMWare and Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
  • Working knowledge of different types of backups.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco UCM, Unity and Expressway.
  • Bringing a positive can-do attitude to all situations to work towards a resolution.
  • Self-driven mindset that completes projects with urgency and assumes ownership of projects.
  • Optimistically collaborating with junior and senior staff to come up with the best solution for any problem.
  • Ability to think critically to resolve small and large issues including the ability to think under pressure during system outages.
  • Translating complex technical issues for non-technical staff.
  • Managing multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • 5+ years total experience in IT with 2 years minimum in system administration.
  • ISO 9001:2015 internal training to be completed within ninety (90) days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Manufacturer certifications preferred: AWS, Cisco, Dell-EMC, Microsoft, VMWare, Veeam, CISSP, Dynatrace, Palo Alto

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows, Linux), hardware, and application software.
  • Manage user accounts, credentials, and permissions, often using Active Directory and Entra ID.
  • Acts as an escalation point for helpdesk for all IT related issues. Assumes full responsibility and owns tickets that helpdesk escalates.
  • Act as a backup for helpdesk tickets when needed to help maintain the ticket queue.
  • Manage, implement, and configure firewalls, routers, switches, endpoint security, and security protocols while ensuring systems comply with regulations like CMMC, ISO, and NIST.
  • Regularly monitor system health, identify bottlenecks, and perform tuning to optimize efficiency.
  • Develop and test backup and recovery plans to protect data integrity and ensure business continuity during failures.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues reported by users or monitoring systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
  • Will be required to work in after-hour maintenance windows including weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Will be required to pass vendor certification exams as needed to gain or maintain vendor relations.
  • Strive to develop new technical skills, competencies and communication skills.
  • Execute all company processes, policies, and procedures while meeting required SLAs.
