About The Position

ASE is looking for a System Administrator to work at Camp H M Smith, HI. The System Administrator, VDI SME is responsible for the administration of over 300 Virtual Machines (VMs) across various Virtual Operating Environments (VOEs) with differing security classifications. This role ensures the operations, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets in compliance with established IT standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • Active TS clearance and eligible for SCI.
  • IAW DoDM 8410.03, must meet intermediate proficiency level.
  • Must possess ONE of the following 8570 IAT-II certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+ (Cybersecurity Analyst), GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional), GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials Certification), Security+ CE, SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner).
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
  • At least three years of experience managing and supporting VMWare vCenter & Horizon View environments.
  • Experience managing and securing VMWare and Windows Desktop systems within a DoD environment.
  • Experience securing systems and applications in accordance with Federal, DoD and customer regulations, directives, policies and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
  • Experience managing application virtualization and VDI baseline images.
  • Experience managing Secure Host Baselines.
  • Experience managing Rubrik and Cohesity.
  • Experience managing VMWare SAN, vCOPS, vRO, and ESXi in a DoD environment.
  • Experience managing Tintri and Pure storage.
  • Experience supporting Endpoint Security Solution (ESS) agents.
  • Must be “VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) 6 (or later)” certified and certification must be in good standing.
  • Must have a proactive approach to system management and a strong collaboration approach to ensure a secure and efficient virtual desktop infrastructure.
  • Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekend work as may be required to support service outages.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, installation, updating, and security of operating systems and applications, utilizing platforms like VMware vCenter, VMware Horizon View, and VMware ESXi, along with storage solutions such as Rubrik, Cohesity, and Pure Storage.
  • Maintaining Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance.
  • Managing DoD PKI requirements.
  • Ensuring all systems are integrated into the Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) architecture.
  • Monitoring security and performance logs.
  • Managing ServiceNow tickets.
  • Participating in technical meetings to provide expert recommendations.
  • Handling backup and restoration processes.
  • Supporting command exercises and inspections.
  • Managing the Continuity of Operations (COOP) for VOE systems.
  • Creating, maintaining, and updating VOE Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Providing monthly status reports detailing accomplishments, ongoing issues, and efforts requiring government action.
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be necessary to support service outages.
  • Proactive approach to system management and strong collaboration with developers and cybersecurity staff to ensure a secure and efficient virtual desktop infrastructure.
