About The Position

A Sr Principal Systems Administrator is a senior-level IT professional responsible for leading the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s (DTRAs) core systems, infrastructure, and security frameworks. Requirements

  • Deep expertise in Windows environments, infrastructure automation, database management, and data analysis.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Active Directory administration, certificate lifecycle management, and enterprise authentication protocols.
  • Strong experience administering, configuring, and managing Virtual Machines in VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisors.
  • Solid proficiency in SQL database management, including writing queries and performing general database administration.
  • Experience managing and maintaining File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) and enterprise file systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to extract and synthesize data from Active Directory, SQL, and Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM) databases, SQL, and general CSV manipulation for system forensics and data analysis.
  • Minimum 8 years of systems administration experience.
  • Expertise in Windows/Linux server management, virtualization, and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS).
  • Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash), automation tools, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system administration efforts, maintaining system performance, and ensuring the security and integrity of data across various platforms.
  • Manage and optimize complex environments.
  • Drive projects that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Administer, configure, and manage Virtual Machines in VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisors.
  • Manage and maintain File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) and enterprise file systems.
  • Extract and synthesize data from Active Directory, SQL, and Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM) databases, SQL, and general CSV manipulation for system forensics and data analysis.
  • Remotely manage distributed servers, switches, and workstations within each local site by a central location where possible.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures through manual configuration, installation of patches, or the application of scripts to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Mitigate vulnerability security findings on workstations and servers and coordinate the resolution between security and local on-site teams.
  • Troubleshoot server and workstation failures related to software deployments, and Windows operating system updates.
  • Maintain all servers within the configuration baselines and all STIGs and accurately configure and apply patches to all systems.
  • Participate in technical exchanges as required.
  • Provide technical and operational input to Change Review activities.
  • Review existing documentation for the server, services, and maintenance processes and procedures, and provide recommendations for improvements/changes.
  • Assist network and systems security personnel in IA incident response.
