About The Position

GDIT has an opportunity for a System Administrator supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa on our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services II (EMITS II) program in Wiesbaden, Germany. The EMITS II program is seeking a highly skilled and broadly experienced System Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize USAREUR-AF’s Mission Partner Network (MPN) IT infrastructure. This role requires a generalist capable of handling everything from routine hardware maintenance and user support to complex data integrations, on-premises Cloud operations and maintenance and enterprise software/services deployment, and strict security compliance in support of critical operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent operational experience).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of broad IT experience acting as a System Administrator in enterprise or government environments.
  • Must hold a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security).
  • Proven expertise in both Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Enterprise Linux (Red Hat/Ubuntu).
  • US Citizenship Required: Yes
  • Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: Secret
  • Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: Top Secret/SCI

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with administration of Windows Server and Linux Server systems
  • Experience with automated deployment and configuration management tools (Ansible, SCCM).
  • Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage architectures.
  • Familiarity with virtualization systems such as VMware vSphere and containerization orchestration systems such as Kubernetes

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux/Unix server environments.
  • Manage application installations and administration.
  • Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines that consolidate disparate mission and enterprise data into centralized, accessible systems.
  • Ensure systems comply with strict security standards (e.g., DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework).
  • Perform routine security audits, patch management, and system backups.
  • Assist in on-premises cloud deployments and write automated scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash) to streamline routine administrative tasks.
  • Act as Tier III escalation point for complex hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
