The Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization’s server infrastructure, network systems, and core IT services. This role focuses heavily on Windows Server administration, system performance, security, and reliability. The administrator ensures that all systems operate efficiently, securely, and in alignment with organizational needs and industry best practices. This is a contract position with responsibilities including provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and related infrastructure. The role involves technical research and development, ensuring adherence to District policies, standards, and guidelines, and performing systems administration engineering, provisioning, operations, support, maintenance, and R&D for continuous innovation. Specific duties include installing and configuring servers, managing hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage; performing daily system monitoring, verifying integrity and availability of resources, reviewing logs, and verifying scheduled jobs like backups. The role also entails regular security monitoring, performing daily backup operations, file archival and purging, user account management, providing Tier III support, troubleshooting, diagnosing and recovering from failures, coordinating with constituencies, applying OS patches and upgrades, upgrading administrative tools, configuring new services, upgrading system software, maintaining procedures, performing performance reporting for capacity planning, tuning, hardware upgrades, resource optimization, configuring CPU/memory/disk partitions, and maintaining data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
