System Administrator and Test Engineer
About The Position
Prowess Consulting is looking for an enthusiastic junior System Administrator/Test Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have skills in a variety of technologies including storage, compute, and networking. Strong trouble shooting and creative problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively to resolve issues. To be considered for this role, you must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington. This is a full-time role with Prowess Consulting. This role can be worked remotely, however collaboration with teammates centered in the Pacific time zone will be essential. No third-party agencies, please.
Requirements
- Associate degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
- 2+ years or working knowledge with scripting languages such as Python and Batch/Shell scripts
- Ability to take clear notes and write concise technical documentation
- Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing.
- Must be able to work Pacific Time Zone
Nice To Haves
- 2+ years’ experience in a Windows environment
- 2+ years' experience with Linux Administration
- 1+ year experience in configuring enterprise storage
- 1+ year consumer hardware benchmarking and testing
- 2+ years with building sandbox and lab environments
- Ability to conduct research to learn and understand new technologies
- Additional experience in the following areas: Kubernetes
- AI/ML workloads
- Microsoft SQL Server
- MySQL
- Virtualization such as Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV
- Nginx
- Redis
Responsibilities
- Researching, testing, development and writing in support of benchmarking, and testing
- Running publicly available hardware benchmarks and tracking results
- Running provided Python/PowerShell/Bash/Shell scripts or interactive steps to stress test server infrastructure hardware
