About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking a System Administrator 2 to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role involves designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers. The position requires onsite support in the Washington D.C. area and offers an opportunity to work on mission-critical facilities and secure environments.

Requirements

  • Active DoD TS/SCI w/ polygraph clearance is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship for access to classified information.
  • Computer Science, Engineering Degree or a Related Technical Discipline.
  • Master's Degree and 0+ Years of progressive experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 2+ Years of progressive experience OR Associate Degree and 6+ Years of progressive experience OR HS Diploma or Equivalent and 8+ Years of progressive experience.
  • Some system administrator experience in performing triage on system problems, resolving system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, implementing new workstations, and system extensions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Basic knowledge of large-scale networking, VLANs, and routing.
  • Reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer.
  • Ability to be on call and work flexible shifts that include nights, weekends, on-call, and holidays as needed.
  • Minimum of IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+).
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Able to use MS Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and test Physical Access Control, CCTV, PSIM, and other electronic security systems.
  • Support implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems for endpoint devices.
  • Provide Tier 1 helpdesk support, including answering phone calls, triaging issues, and determining escalation needs.
  • Utilize a ticketing system to document helpdesk calls and troubleshooting steps.
  • Monitor enterprise system status for problems like network outages or degraded services, perform initial troubleshooting, and notify senior administrators when necessary.
  • Support daily operations, including monitoring and reviewing system logs.
  • Support configuration and management of Windows operating systems and installation of operating system software.
  • Support desktop hardware and operating system setup, imaging software loading, and antivirus updates.
  • Support execution of IAVA updates and patching to ensure compliance with Information Assurance (IA) standards.
  • Support application of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to Windows-based operating systems (servers and workstations).
  • Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of 3rd party applications.
  • Perform root cause analysis on significant issues at the appropriate level of support.
  • Support preventive maintenance actions, including system backups, error log reviews, database size analysis, and integrity checks.
  • Stay current with technological developments and recommend ways to leverage new technologies.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, such as standard operating procedures (SOP) and as-builds.
  • Perform all duties under direct supervision.
