About The Position

Riis Settlement is seeking a dynamic, creative, and engaging individual who enjoys working with children, working in groups, and being part of a community. As an SYEP Site Monitor, you will play an active role in observing and monitoring the activities of Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) participants.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite computer knowledge (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Minimum of one year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a broad range of people, including participants, staff, parents, volunteers, and others.
  • Flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to travel between numerous worksites within the boroughs.
  • Assist with general SYEP Worksite/ Participant issues.
  • Effective communications skills, both oral and written form.
  • Excellent organizational skills essential to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for developing professional skills through training opportunities and field practice.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to employment history and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, and maintain relationships with worksites and recruit SYEP participants.
  • Responsible for retrieval of the following: weekly timesheets, evaluations, referrals, and reflection forms from each participant.
  • Conduct Project Based Learning sessions with younger youth as an instructor 2-3 days per week.
  • Communicate with worksite supervisors to resolve any issues.
  • Recruit participants for SYEP.
  • Develop a strong, professional relationship with the Worksite Supervisor as well as the SYEP participants.
  • Demonstrate appropriate boundaries with teens, parents, external sites and coworkers
  • Conduct weekly worksite visits in order to interact with participants and conduct written worksite assessments.
  • Maintain well-documented client records and program statistics to comply with agency, program and funding requirements.
  • Identify youth needs and concerns to immediate supervisor to resolve matters quickly.
  • Actively participate in all aspects of professional development, including scheduled supervision, weekly team meetings, pre-service training, and an additional paid professional development training required.
  • Adhere to all Department of Health and New York State OCFS policies and standards including completing all minimum training hours.
