About The Position

Commerce City, CO: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a skilled Switchgear Technician to repair, refurbish, inspect, and customize pad-mounted and metal-enclosed switchgear in a facility and customer-site environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of previous shop or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience refurbishing pad-mounted or metal-enclosed switchgear required.
  • Experience with busbar installation required.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Strong analytical skills for inspecting and troubleshooting electrical equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to complete background check, Wonderlic assessment, workers’ compensation history check, and drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid/CPR, AED, and OSHA 10 training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety guidelines while working in shop, factory, and field environments.
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately, on time, and with required documentation of labor and parts.
  • Inspect electrical equipment internally and externally; document defects, damage, wear, corrosion, contamination, and missing parts.
  • Disassemble used and surplus medium-voltage switchgear for inspection, refurbishment, and customization.
  • Clean, repair, and refurbish switchgear compartments, structures, mechanisms, and electrical components.
  • Reassemble switchgear according to engineered specifications and customer requirements.
  • Modify and customize pad-mounted and metal-enclosed switchgear layouts and configurations.
  • Install, fabricate, and fit copper and aluminum busbar systems.
  • Install and wire CTs, PTs, control components, relays, and metering equipment.
  • Install and replace medium-voltage fuses, fuse mountings, load-interrupter switches, circuit breakers, and related hardware.
  • Perform electrical testing on switchgear, VFIs, and relays as needed.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment within capacity and load limits.
  • Drive company truck as needed for field assignments.
  • Travel up to 25% as required.
