About The Position

This position is responsible for operating the switchboard in a kind, courteous, and timely manner. The operator will take and deliver messages promptly, understand and execute all emergency procedures (including codes, fire drills, disaster drills, bomb threats, and infant abduction drills), and maintain composure in stressful situations. The role involves handling all incoming and outgoing calls efficiently, utilizing the flash system, and managing pages and digital/voice messages on pagers. The operator must be knowledgeable about emergency procedures and contact personnel, know where to find information, and assist with any assigned tasks at the board. Additionally, the operator will take orders from their supervisor and report relevant information to them.

Responsibilities

• Operate the switchboard in a kind and courteous way and in a timely manner.
• Take messages and deliver them to the proper place as quickly as possible.
• Understand all emergency procedures including codes, Fire drills, Disaster Drill, Bomb Threats & Infant Abduction Drills.
• Handle all in-coming & out going calls in a timely Manner.
• Use the flash system and put out pages and digital and voice messages on Pagers.
• Know all emergency Procedures & who to call.
• Know where to look for information.
• Help at whatever task is assigned to you at the board.
• Take orders from your Supervisor and report to her any information for which she is responsible.
