Responsibilities

  • Ensure all phone lines are answered in a timely manner.
  • Treat all incoming phone calls with dignity and efficiency.
  • Transfer all patient calls to the proper room or area in which the caller requests.
  • Ensure all emergency phone calls are treated with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Operates a PBX switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls appropriately.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Welcome patient and family members in a professional manner.
  • Contact the nursing staff for emergency medical needs and answer patient and visitor questions.
