Swiss Type Programmer & Machinist – Star CNC Location: West Chester, PA Employment Type: Direct Hire – Full Time Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite Compensation: $32.00 – $45.00 per hour HireNow Staffing is actively recruiting a seasoned, highly skilled Swiss Type Programmer & Machinist with Star CNC expertise to join one of our valued client partners. Position Overview This role is designed for a high-level Swiss machining professional who can independently program, set up, and optimize Star CNC Swiss machines in a production environment requiring tight tolerances and process stability. The selected candidate will take ownership of programming strategy, tooling selection, setup validation, and ongoing machining improvements to ensure consistent quality and efficiency. This is not a general operator role. Candidates must demonstrate advanced Swiss programming capability and the ability to troubleshoot complex multi-axis machining challenges. Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of Swiss CNC programming experience
- Hands-on experience programming and setting up Star CNC machines
- Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform setups, validate programs, and run production
- Experience performing in-process inspections using precision measurement tools
- Stable employment history within machining environments
- Candidates lacking Swiss programming depth or demonstrating frequent job changes will not be considered.

- Experience in regulated or high-precision manufacturing environments
- Medical device machining background
- Experience mentoring junior machinists or assisting in process development
- Strong troubleshooting capability in complex multi-axis machining
Responsibilities
- Develop and edit CNC programs for Star Swiss-type machines
- Perform full machine setups including guide bushing configuration, tooling layout, and offset adjustments
- Interpret detailed blueprints and GD&T requirements to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Validate first articles and conduct in-process inspections
- Optimize programs to improve cycle times while maintaining quality standards
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, feeds and speeds, surface finish, and tolerances
- Create and maintain setup documentation and standardized process sheets
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve dimensional or process concerns
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the machining cell
