About The Position

This is an internal/external posting for a Lifeguard / Swim Instructor position within Community Services at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre. The role reports to the Supervisor of Aquatics and is responsible for providing safe supervision during recreational swim hours and instructing programs. The position is part-time, non-union, with hours varying up to a maximum of 1440 hours per calendar year. The reason for the vacancy is an existing position.

Requirements

• Must hold current National Lifeguard award.
• Must hold current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification.
• Must hold current Standard/Intermediate First Aid/CPR/AED Level “C” certification.
• Must obtain a satisfactory police clearance upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• Current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor award an asset.

Responsibilities

• Instruct Lifesaving Society swim programs.
• Provide safety supervision of recreational swim hours.
• Maintain, develop, and provide documentation related to swim instruction, lifeguarding, and aquatic area tasks.
• General maintenance of the pool and deck areas.
• Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, as well as the Municipality’s Health and Safety Program.
• Other duties as assigned.
