Requirements

  • At least 15 years old
  • Positive, energetic, and comfortable leading a group
  • Responsible, dependable, and ready to take initiative
  • Passion for working with kids and people from all backgrounds
  • Able to stay patient, encouraging, and focused
  • Current YMCA or American Red Cross certifications: CPR/AED First Aid Oxygen
  • Willing to attend trainings and team meetings
  • Ability to show up early and be prepared to teach

Responsibilities

  • Teach swim lessons to kids and adults of all skill levels
  • Create a fun, safe, and encouraging environment during every class
  • Make sure all safety rules are followed in and around the pool
  • Build positive relationships with swimmers and their families
  • Set up and put away equipment before and after lessons
  • Take the lead during class and keep things organized and running smoothly
  • Be a role model and represent the YMCA values every day
