About The Position
As a YMCA Swim Instructor, you will teach swim lessons to kids and adults of all skill levels, helping them gain confidence, stay safe, and achieve their goals in the water. This role offers a fun, meaningful experience that builds valuable skills like leadership, teaching, and communication, while making a real impact by teaching a life-saving skill. You will work in a supportive team environment, fostering positive relationships with swimmers and their families, and upholding the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Requirements
- At least 15 years old
- Positive, energetic, and comfortable leading a group
- Responsible, dependable, and ready to take initiative
- Passion for working with kids and people from all backgrounds
- Able to stay patient, encouraging, and focused
- Current YMCA or American Red Cross certifications: CPR/AED
- Current YMCA or American Red Cross certifications: First Aid
- Current YMCA or American Red Cross certifications: Oxygen
- Willing to attend trainings and team meetings
- Ability to show up early and be prepared to teach
Responsibilities
- Teach swim lessons to kids and adults of all skill levels
- Create a fun, safe, and encouraging environment during every class
- Make sure all safety rules are followed in and around the pool
- Build positive relationships with swimmers and their families
- Set up and put away equipment before and after lessons
- Take the lead during class and keep things organized and running smoothly
- Be a role model and represent the YMCA values every day
