About The Position
The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking individuals, age 15+, to serve as swim instructors or aides. This role offers the opportunity to develop valuable skills such as communication, leadership, and responsibility while teaching the lifesaving skill of swimming to children. As a swim instructor or aide, you will contribute to providing a safe and enjoyable aquatics experience for members and participants.
Requirements
- Age 15+
- Experience with kids and passionate about teaching children to swim
- Ability to pass American Red Cross CPR Certification
- Ability to complete and pass our in-water skills assessment
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe environment that allows members and participants to learn to swim
- Encourage and support students to provide an enjoyable aquatics experience
- Evaluate swimming skills; complete progress reports for each session; complete communications for parents
- Participate as a part of the aquatics staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
