About The Position

The Bellevue YMCA is hiring a part-time Swim Instructor to lead swim classes in the water and help participants build swimming skills in a safe, fun, and engaging environment. The instructor uses organized lesson plans to teach proper swimming techniques, support swimmers’ progress, and provide regular feedback to swimmers and parents. The role also includes organizing equipment and contributing to a positive experience for every member.

Availability varies by location. The Donelson-Hermitage center seeks candidates available Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Margaret Maddox center seeks candidates available weekday evenings from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon through May. From June through July, Margaret Maddox is also hiring for weekday mornings and evenings and Saturday mornings. Pay starts at $14 per hour, with the rate potentially higher depending on experience.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years old.
• Be able to swim at an intermediate level.
• Complete New Hire Orientation before the first shift.
• Obtain CPR Pro/AED/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
• Have a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a passion for teaching.

Nice To Haves

• Lifeguard certification.
• Swim Instructor certification.
