The Swim Instructor at the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division Salvation Army Kroc Center plans and teaches group and private swim lessons for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. The instructor adapts teaching to participants’ age, experience, and ability, supports their progress, and promotes a safe and welcoming aquatics environment. Lessons are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:35 p.m., Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Scheduling is flexible, with the option to work as little as one shift per week. Pay is $16.16 per hour. Employees who also work as certified lifeguards receive an additional $1.00 per hour, and shifts worked from 4:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday receive a $1.00-per-hour shift differential. The Salvation Army’s Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination. In keeping with that mission, the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center provides facilities, programs, and services intended to encourage, enrich, and strengthen children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences. The primary duties take place in a busy public Aquatics Center with high noise levels, warm temperatures, and high humidity. The role involves exposure to pool chemicals and fumes, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials. Outdoor special events and community center activities may involve exposure to prevailing weather; noise at these events is usually moderate to loud. Employees agree not to undermine The Salvation Army’s religious mission.
