About The Position
The Central Branch YMCA is looking for an energetic, outgoing team player to fill the position of swim instructor to help create a safe and positive atmosphere in and around the pool and conduct swimming instruction in accordance with YUSA guidelines. Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.
Requirements
- At least 16 years old.
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Nice To Haves
- Current American Red Cross or YMCA Water Safety Instructor is preferred.
- Certification from the YMCA or other accredited association or the ability to get certified is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Build effective, authentic relationships with members, swim participants, and parents.
- Ensure a safe and positive environment for the swim lesson participants to succeed in program goals.
- Encourage the involvement of all swim participants.
