About The Position
The Y is the nation's largest provider of swim lessons to increase skill and safety in and around water. This position provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Part-time position instructing students in swimming and/or exercise fundamentals. Ensures proper techniques and use of equipment while providing a safe environment for learning. We teach classes ranging from Parent/Child through Adult.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Must be available to work flexible hours.
- Must be comfortable working with all ages and skill levels.
- Pass a 10-panel drug screen.
- Clear a Level 2 background check.
- Level 2 background clearance through DCF (Florida) required.
Nice To Haves
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and swim lesson instructor certifications are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes.
- Instructs students in swimming and/or exercise fundamentals.
- Ensures proper techniques and use of equipment while providing a safe environment for learning.
- Demonstrates swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Instructs and observes participants in proper stroke techniques.
- Lifts equipment.
- Lifts a small to average size child.
