About The Position

Upper Merion Area School District anticipates a vacancy for a Girls Head Swim Coach for the 2026–2027 school year. The coach will plan and lead structured swim practices, develop athletes’ technical and physical skills, make meet lineups, coordinate with the boys’ swim team head coach, and supervise athletes at practices and competitions. The position also involves organizing meets, maintaining safety and equipment, communicating with families and district staff, and handling team records and reports. The coach must be available for morning, after-school, and weekend practices.

Requirements

• Complete all required clearances, physical examination, TB test, and District requirements before employment.
• Availability for morning, after-school, and weekend practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily structured practices focused on competitive stroke mechanics, turns, starts, and finish strategies.
• Design dryland workouts and aerobic conditioning appropriate for different skill levels.
• Determine event entries, relay structures, and individual placements for dual meets, invitationals, and championship events.
• Collaborate with the boys’ swim team head coach on overall program development.
• Delegate responsibilities to the assistant coach.
• Supervise athletes before, during, and after meets, invitationals, and practice sessions.
• Organize home meets and invitationals with the boys’ swim team head coach.
• Maintain a safe pool-deck environment, monitor athlete health, and enforce pool safety rules.
• Travel with the team to away meets and invitationals.
• Model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Communicate with parents, players, and athletic department staff.
• Maintain equipment inventories, report meet results, handle incident and injury reports, and manage attendance.
