SVP, Marketing

Instructure, Inc.,
$275,000 - $300,000Hybrid

About The Position

At Instructure, we believe in the power of people to grow and succeed throughout their lives. Our goal is to amplify that power by creating intuitive products that simplify learning and personal development, facilitate meaningful relationships, and inspire people to go further in their education and careers. We do this by giving smart, creative, passionate people opportunities to create awesome. And that's where you come in: Instructure is approaching $1B in ARR and operating at a scale where marketing must function as a true commercial engine. We’re looking for an SVP of Marketing who is ready to take the biggest step of their career: owning the full marketing function at a company of real consequence, with real proximity to the commercial outcomes that matter. This is not a brand stewardship role. It is not a campaign management role. It is a senior commercial leadership position for a marketer who has spent their career building toward this moment and is ready to own it. You will report to the President, Global Commercial Organization, and sit alongside Instructure’s Sales and Customer Success leadership within the commercial organization. You will lead a marketing organization of significant scale and depth — spanning lifecycle marketing across three major business segments, brand and creative, communications, and web and digital — while directly owning marketing strategy and execution for our BizGov segment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in B2B SaaS marketing, with meaningful experience at companies of $300M ARR or greater.
  • Demonstrated ownership of pipeline generation — you’ve sat in QBRs, you know what pipeline coverage means, and you’ve been held accountable to revenue targets.
  • Experience leading multiple marketing functions simultaneously — you’ve managed beyond your core discipline and built leaders, not just teams.
  • International marketing experience — you’ve operated in or led marketing across multiple geographies.
  • A track record of brand and positioning work that moved commercial outcomes, not just perception scores.
  • Executive presence and communication skills that work at the board level and at a sales kickoff on the same day.
  • Kindness, directness, and a good sense of humor. We take the work seriously and each other lightly.
  • All employees must pass a background check as part of the hiring process.
  • To help protect our teams and systems, we’ve implemented identity verification measures. Candidates may be asked to verify their legal name, current physical location, and provide a valid contact number and residential address, in accordance with local data privacy laws.
  • Any attempt to misrepresent personal or professional information will result in disqualification.

Nice To Haves

  • A mission-driven orientation around education and learning is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Propose and drive the enterprise marketing strategy in close partnership with the President, Global Commercial Organization, and execute that strategy through a talented, multi-disciplinary organization of marketing leaders and their teams.
  • Set the direction for how Instructure generates awareness, builds pipeline, and wins and grows customers across Higher Education, K-12, International, and BizGov markets. Translate business objectives into marketing priorities. Make the hard resource and investment allocation decisions that strategy requires.
  • Own pipeline contribution targets, hold your teams accountable to them, and partner peer-to-peer with Sales and Customer Success leadership to ensure marketing’s output converts. Understand pipeline coverage, funnel health, and what it takes to move a nearly $1B ARR business forward.
  • Own the work through the VP of Creative & Brand to ensure the Instructure story lands more clearly and powerfully across all markets, and ensure the brand is an accelerant to commercial outcomes, not a separate workstream.
  • Partner with the VPs of Lifecycle Marketing, International to ensure Instructure’s marketing presence, pipeline contribution, and brand strength extend meaningfully across global markets. Bring a globally-minded approach to strategy and execution.
  • Personally lead marketing strategy and execution for the BizGov segment, partnering with the relevant Sales and Customer Success counterparts to drive growth in this market.
  • Lead six direct reports spanning lifecycle marketing (Higher Ed, K-12, International), Communications, Web & Digital, and Creative & Brand. Set the standard, build the culture, develop the leaders, and ensure the org is structured and resourced to win.
  • Represent marketing at the executive level and in board settings. Translate marketing performance into commercial language — pipeline contribution, bookings impact, revenue influence — and hold your own in those conversations alongside Sales and Customer Success peers.
  • Make smart investment decisions, hold programs to measurable standards, and reallocate resources without sentiment when the data warrants it. Demonstrate the measurable performance and impact of your work across brand health, bookings contribution, pipeline impact, and campaign efficacy.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, plus all full-time employees participate in our ownership program - because everyone should have a stake in our success.
  • Flexible work culture. Our remote, hybrid and in-office collaboration spaces vary by role, team and location.
  • Generous time off, including local holidays and our annual “Dim the Lights” period in late December, when teams are encouraged to step back and recharge based on departmental needs.
  • Comprehensive wellness programs and mental health support
  • Learning and development resources, including professional development tools and tuition reimbursement, to support your growth
  • The technology and tools you need to do your best work
  • Motivosity employee recognition program
  • A culture rooted in inclusivity, support, and meaningful connection
