About The Position

Dow Jones is seeking a senior executive to lead its M&A strategy. The SVP, M&A will be the primary driver of inorganic growth, identifying and executing acquisitions, investments, and strategic transactions to accelerate long-term strategic priorities. This role encompasses the entire transaction lifecycle, from sourcing and evaluation to negotiation, diligence, closing, and integration. The position requires a highly strategic, commercially minded leader adept at navigating complex markets, building relationships, and driving disciplined execution with measurable business impact. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking corporate development executive with deep transaction expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to translate strategic opportunities into scalable growth outcomes.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience leading complex M&A transactions and strategic growth initiatives as a senior corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance executive.
  • Demonstrated success executing acquisitions, investments, and strategic transactions—ideally within information services, though experience in media, technology, SaaS, data, or adjacent industries is also highly valued.
  • Strong financial and strategic acumen, including expertise in valuation, financial modeling, deal structuring, investment analysis, and synergy assessment.
  • Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and influence senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing cross-functional diligence and integration efforts across global organizations.
  • Deep understanding of technology, data, AI, and digital business models.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to operate effectively with CEOs, Boards, investors, and business leaders.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic vision with operational discipline and execution rigor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Dow Jones enterprise M&A strategy and execution, aligning inorganic growth initiatives to the company’s strategic priorities.
  • Own and manage the enterprise deal pipeline, proactively identifying acquisition, investment, and partnership opportunities that strengthen Dow Jones’ market position and capabilities.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, CFO, and business leaders on growth opportunities, market dynamics, competitive positioning, and portfolio strategy.
  • Develop a disciplined operating framework for evaluating opportunities, prioritizing investments, and ensuring alignment between strategic rationale and financial outcomes.
  • Lead all phases of transactions, including opportunity sourcing and evaluation, deal structuring and negotiation, due diligence, governance, execution, and close.
  • Evaluate business models, competitive positioning, customer value propositions, revenue quality, and operational performance to inform investment decisions and transaction strategy.
  • Structure and negotiate transactions that align strategic objectives with financial discipline and long-term value creation.
  • Establish clear success metrics and accountability frameworks to measure transaction performance, strategic impact, and value realization post-close.
  • Define integration strategies early in the transaction lifecycle to ensure alignment between the deal thesis, operating model, strategic objectives, and long-term value creation goals.
  • Partner with business and functional leaders to lead post-acquisition integration planning and execution across operational, commercial, technology, and organizational workstreams.
  • Establish clear governance structures, success metrics, and accountability frameworks to measure transaction performance, synergy realization, and overall business impact.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across the M&A and investment ecosystem, including founders, CEOs, private equity and venture capital firms, investment banks, strategic partners, and industry advisors.
  • Build a robust external network to generate proprietary deal flow, surface emerging market opportunities, and strengthen Dow Jones’ position within the broader media, technology, data, and AI landscape.
  • Engage regularly with market participants, investors, and operators to identify opportunities for acquisitions, partnerships, strategic investments, and capability expansion.
  • Partner with senior leadership to assess market shifts, disruptive technologies, and competitive threats that may impact long-term portfolio strategy and growth objectives.
  • Represent Dow Jones externally in strategic discussions, industry conferences, investor meetings, and partner engagements.
  • Build strong partnerships across Finance, Strategy, Product, Technology, Legal, Editorial, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment and execution excellence.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across a complex, matrixed organization to drive alignment on priorities, investment decisions, and integration outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, collaboration, and accountability.
