About The Position

Flatirons Bank is seeking a driven, reliable, and hardworking SVP, Finance and Accounting to join their team. This role is responsible for overseeing the Bank’s accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, tax strategy, regulatory reporting, holding company financial management, and internal control functions. The position partners closely with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to support the Bank’s strategic initiatives, financial performance, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and long-term growth. This role also provides executive oversight for specialized financial programs, including the Bank’s Qualified Settlement Fund (QSF) operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Additional education and experience through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum applicable to the financial industry.
  • 10+ years of previous work in a bank finance or accounting role.
  • Strong analytical, finance, accounting and math skills.
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of banking accounting principles, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and GAAP.
  • Experience with bank Call Reports, regulatory filings, and financial institution audits / examinations preferred.
  • Experience overseeing holding company accounting structures and intercompany financial management preferred.
  • Strong understanding of corporate taxation, partnership taxation, and financial institution tax reporting.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of state and federal banking regulations, and bank operational policies.
  • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively present financial information to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Ability to regularly address and resolve problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the accounting and finance functions of the Bank, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, asset/liability management support, and financial analysis.
  • Develop and maintain financial strategies that support the Bank’s long-term strategic goals and profitability objectives.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to executive management and the Board of Directors regarding operational performance, budgeting, capital planning, liquidity, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including management and board reporting packages.
  • Monitor financial performance and key performance indicators and recommend corrective actions or strategic opportunities as needed.
  • Support the Bank’s growth initiatives through financial modeling, profitability analysis, and operational planning via financial forecasts, tax projections, and strategic analyses for the holding company and affiliated entities.
  • Assist executive leadership with strategic planning and organizational decision-making.
  • Oversee the financial management, accounting, and reporting activities of the Bank’s holding company and affiliated entities, including oversight of intercompany accounting, tax coordination, and related financial activities.
  • Support strategic capital planning, intercompany transactions, dividend planning, and organizational financial structuring activities related to the holding company.
  • Provide financial oversight and strategic guidance related to specialized banking programs and affiliated business lines, including Qualified Settlement Fund (QSF) operations.
  • Oversee the Bank’s accounting operations, including financial reporting, general ledger management, branch accounting, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, accounts payable, and specialized banking accounting activities.
  • Maintain strong accounting controls, financial reporting procedures, and compliance with GAAP, banking regulations, internal controls, and Bank policies.
  • Oversee corporate tax strategy, planning, and compliance activities for the Bank, holding company, and affiliated entities in coordination with external advisors.
  • Oversee accounting, tax reporting, and compliance functions associated with the Bank’s Qualified Settlement Fund (QSF) program and related entities.
  • Coordinate and manage regulatory examinations, internal and external audits, tax engagements, and relationships with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of regulatory and financial reports, including the Call Report, FR Y-6, FR Y-9SP, SOD reporting, and other required filings.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and banking regulations to support ongoing compliance and effective risk management practices.
  • Support the Bank’s asset/liability management strategy, liquidity monitoring, capital planning, and balance sheet management activities.
  • Chair the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and provide strategic oversight of interest rate risk management, liquidity risk management, net interest income performance, IRR modeling assumptions, and related balance sheet risk reporting.
  • Oversee financial modeling, forecasting, and profitability analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Support the CEO and executive leadership in the oversight and management of the Bank’s securities portfolio to achieve balance sheet management objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for accounting and finance personnel.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across departments to support organizational effectiveness and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead or support special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Represent the Bank professionally within the community, industry associations, and professional organizations as appropriate.
