About The Position

The Senior Vice President, Corporate, Government, Tribal & Community Affairs leads the company's external affairs strategy across all operating regions, with responsibility for government relations, tribal partnerships, community engagement, stakeholder relations, and corporate reputation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on public policy, tribal engagement, community relations, reputational risk, and other business-critical external matters. This position helps the company navigate complex regulatory, political, tribal, and community environments while ensuring external affairs efforts support business priorities, operational objectives, permitting activities, and long-term growth. Through strategic relationship management and stakeholder engagement, the Senior Vice President advances company interests, mitigates risk, and strengthens the company's ability to operate and grow within its core regions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 12+ years of experience in government affairs, community relations, external affairs, or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in energy, natural resources, infrastructure, or similarly regulated industries preferred
  • Direct experience working with tribal governments or in regions with tribal jurisdiction strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success managing external stakeholder relationships and navigating complex regulatory environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's external affairs strategy across government relations, tribal engagement, community relations, and stakeholder partnerships in support of business objectives and long-term growth.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team on regulatory, political, tribal, community, and stakeholder matters that may impact company operations, permitting activities, reputation, or strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, tribal governments, community leaders, landowners, industry organizations, and other key external stakeholders.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments and provide strategic guidance on risks, opportunities, and business impacts.
  • Support permitting, regulatory approval, operational, and development initiatives by navigating complex political, regulatory, tribal, and community environments and helping remove barriers to project execution.
  • Lead the company's engagement strategy with tribal governments and affiliated entities, fostering long-term partnerships and supporting business objectives across operating areas.
  • Develop and implement community engagement initiatives that strengthen relationships, build trust, and support the company's long-term growth and presence within its operating regions.
  • Represent the company in discussions with external stakeholders and serve as a key spokesperson on matters related to government, tribal, and community affairs.
  • Identify and address stakeholder concerns, emerging issues, and reputational risks that could affect company operations, permitting activities, projects, or growth initiatives.
  • Oversee community investment, partnership, sponsorship, and outreach efforts to ensure alignment with company values and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Operations, HR, Finance, and other business leaders to ensure external engagement strategies support company objectives.
  • Develop department goals, budgets, and engagement strategies while ensuring the effective execution of the corporate affairs function.
