About The Position

A SVP, Account Director is the most senior position in account service. The primary job function is to drive the account service groups under their charge. This pivotal position encompasses three key areas-business building, strategic thinking/brand building and ‘troubleshooting’ and, as such, involves mastering seven core competencies. Business Building Exceeds forecast Continually identifies opportunities for incremental income (i.e. selling more) Generates ‘big ideas’ encourages big idea development among account groups Actively seeks new brand assignments/launches from current clients Generates opportunities with partner/sister companies Spearheads new business pitches Strategic Thinking Keeps the brand teams on track strategically (at all levels) Challenges teams to develop sound marketing strategies Encourages strategic solutions that accelerate brand growth Ensure solid analyses of markets and competitive environments by account teams Help train account teams on strategic processes and sound strategic thinking Ensures consistent and appropriate use of key strategic tools Ensure strategic integration for brands shared with sister/partner companies Functions well strategically in both the domestic and global areas Contributes to the strengthening of the agency’s strategic capabilities Branding/Creative Contributes to the development of world-class creative Champions the creative product Drives the branding process and fosters understanding of it (internally and externally) Contributes to the creation and building of brands , domestically and globally Utilizes and helps continually strengthen the different branding tools used in the agency Runs branding workshops as appropriate Client Relations Ensures high agency visibility and awareness of our mission within clients Identifies ways to strengthen relationships Resolves client conflict effectively; intervenes as needed during difficult situations Positions agency and partner/sister companies at our best with client Keeps senior level client management informed, championing for product management/marketing on key issues/opportunities (as appropriate) Demonstrates understanding of client vision or mission Networks among clients, potential clients, and the general industry Leadership/Management Demonstrates leadership internally and externally by providing vision for teams Establishes, maintains and continually refines standards of excellence Resolves staff conflicts effectively Applies macro-management style yet avails themselves as resource Identifies and helps address developmental needs of account team members Uses the review process to develop/ deepen staff loyalty, dedication and motivation Nurtures individuals talent yet fosters team building Contributes positively to agency culture and environment Actively promotes the agency culture internally and externally (clients and industry) Agency Operations Assists in resource allocation to maximize profitability Demonstrates strong financial acumen with respect to staffing, fees and forecasts Negotiates annual agency fees in timely manner Cogently outlines financial/staffing issues and solutions for senior management Identifies ways to improve operating efficiencies and effectiveness Provides monthly updates on statues of business Participates in the development of the annual business plan Contributes to the overall management of the agency and our mission Fundamentals Possesses in-depth, multi-disciplinary knowledge of our business and industry Sets and upholds highest work standards and quality control Continually strives for quality improvement Exercises good judgment and objectively in assessing/resolving problems Responds proactively to emerging issues, problems and opportunities Leads a diverse range of businesses Demonstrates solid, professional work ethic Excels at proficiency and decisiveness Excellent interpersonal and listening skills Strong management abilities Good coaching and training skills Scrutinizes and keeps abreast of industry talent Demonstrates passion for the business
