SVE Electrical Engineer

Enovation Controls LLC•Tulsa, OK

About The Position

The SVE Electrical Engineer works in the Engineering department, primarily leading Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives for production electronics while providing secondary support for sustaining engineering. The role partners with New Product Development during product launch and the handoff of electrical design ownership, then takes ongoing responsibility for maintaining assigned products throughout production. The engineer works across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Product Management, and suppliers to improve cost, manufacturability, electrical performance, component availability, product quality, and reliability. The position includes evaluating and implementing cost reductions, maintaining electrical design and product documentation, supporting launch readiness and design handoffs, modifying circuit and PCB designs, and assisting with testing and manufacturing activities. It also involves addressing component obsolescence, supplier substitutions, factory failures, field issues, and quality problems through investigation and corrective action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of electrical/electronic product-design and development experience; VAVE and sustaining engineering experience are preferred.
  • Electronic product-design experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, troubleshooting techniques, component selection, and PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Experience with test instruments, electrical validation, DFM/DFT, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to execute VAVE changes, qualify alternate components, and control product documentation and engineering changes.
  • Strong ownership, project prioritization, communication, and cross-functional problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for schematics, bills of materials, configuration, and engineering changes.
  • Knowledge of ruggedized electronics, embedded controllers, displays, power, CAN/J1939, Ethernet, and EMC/EMI.
  • Background in environmental testing, component obsolescence, alternate-source qualification, or high-volume manufacturing processes.
  • VAVE and sustaining engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, validate, and implement lower-cost circuits, components, PCB assemblies, manufacturing approaches, and sourcing alternatives without sacrificing performance or reliability.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned electrical designs after launch and maintain schematics, PCB records, specifications, bills of materials, and product configuration.
  • Partner with New Product Development on launch readiness, design intent, component selections, validation history, and ownership transfer.
  • Modify analog and digital circuits, schematics, PCBs, interfaces, and component selections while considering availability, lifecycle, cost, and derating.
  • Support prototypes, bench testing, design for manufacturability and design for test (DFM/DFT), electrical and EMC performance evaluation, and formal engineering changes.
  • Resolve component obsolescence, supplier substitutions, factory failures, field issues, and quality problems through investigation and corrective action.
  • Develop VAVE business cases and coordinate technical changes with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Product Management, and suppliers.

Benefits

  • Strong 401(k) match.
  • Cost-effective healthcare options that meaningfully reduce out-of-pocket costs.
  • Wellness support.
  • Profit-sharing that rewards collective success.
