About The Position

KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. This position supports the MIT LL team, focusing on enabling critically important communications over vast distances by innovating and overcoming technical challenges in advanced prototyping. The role is within a collaborative environment of enthusiastic engineers creating the next generation of cutting-edge laser communication systems technology. Contributions will be pivotal in designing and optimizing defense systems that ensure national security and shape the future of space defense and/or defense. The Strategic Satcom team is involved in research, proof-of-concept test beds, and system engineering/application efforts to enhance the capacity, robustness to interference, and flexibility of future communications satellites and line-of-sight radio communications systems. Current research includes advanced waveforms, adaptive wideband frequency plans, robust acquisition and tracking techniques, dynamic resource-allocation protocols, and advanced networking strategies, with promising results verified in hardware/software proof-of-concept implementations.

Requirements

• Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position
• Familiarization with test equipment, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, power meter, Fireberd, fiber optics
• Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs)
• UNIX Operating System
• Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
• 5 years of Operations and maintenance in military SATCOM environments

Responsibilities

• Executing terminal operations
• Loading cryptographic keys
• Providing maintenance on a variety of systems
• Removing and replacing failed systems and subsystems
• Conducting system anomaly troubleshooting and resolution

Benefits

• For Colorado only, the salary range is approximately $​117,600 - $176,400 USD annually. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
