Sustainment Engineer

Mytra•Brisbane, CA
•$100,000 - $110,000•Onsite

About The Position

As a Sustainment Engineer at Mytra, you will join the Customer Operations team to support deployed systems as the company grows its base of production sites. After a site moves through commissioning and into hypercare, you will help keep it running by connecting field conditions with the information Engineering needs. You will execute defined troubleshooting, maintenance, and reliability work at customer sites, including diagnosing field issues, performing corrective actions, managing spare parts and service kits, and documenting service work thoroughly. You will work collaboratively with the Senior Sustainment Engineer, who provides day-to-day technical direction, and follow reliability standards and escalation practices defined by the Sustainment Lead. Customer interaction is regular and on-site, with the customer’s maintenance and operations teams and your Senior Sustainment Engineer as your primary working interfaces. The role requires diagnostic discipline, quality documentation, clear communication under pressure, and timely escalation when an issue is outside your scope. As you demonstrate sound diagnostic judgment, documentation quality, and field discipline, you may take on more complex root-cause work, a greater share of customer-facing escalations, and eventually mentor newer technicians. The role also provides field feedback to product and engineering teams and includes periodic rotating on-call or after-hours escalation coverage to support customer uptime commitments outside standard site hours. This is a field support role. The location is the San Francisco Bay Area, preferred. Through the end of this year, travel will be primarily to the Bay Area headquarters (75%); once deployments begin next year, travel is expected to be approximately 75% to customer sites across the United States. Compensation will be set based on experience level and location. The posted salary band applies only to the San Francisco Bay Area and is subject to change.

  • Ability to execute defined work instructions with discipline, follow checklists precisely, document evidence completely, and maintain quality standards under schedule pressure.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds from the floor.
  • Ability to work at heights with appropriate fall protection.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

  • Spanish/English bilingual communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve field issues on deployed robotics and ASRS systems, performing hands-on corrective actions using hand and power tools.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance and support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) on recurring issues under the direction of the Senior Sustainment Engineer.
  • Manage spare parts planning, service kit deployment, and CMMS/PLM record-keeping for assigned work orders.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for the customer’s maintenance and operations team during routine support and escalations.
  • Produce accurate, complete documentation for every service event, including photos, measurements, troubleshooting steps, and resolution evidence.
  • Follow and help refine technical support guides, troubleshooting manuals, and standardized playbooks.
  • Escalate issues to the Senior Sustainment Engineer with clear context, including a root-cause hypothesis, objective evidence, affected systems, and recommended next actions.
  • Provide field feedback to product and engineering teams.
  • Participate in periodic rotating on-call or after-hours escalation coverage.
  • As experience and capability develop, take on more complex root-cause work and customer-facing escalations, and eventually mentor newer technicians.
