About The Position

Parkhurst Dining is seeking a student committed to improving food systems on campus. The Sustainability Intern will assist with advancing campus-wide sustainability initiatives. Potential work includes designing campus campaigns in collaboration with the social media intern, increasing transparency of campus food systems, and developing structures to build relationships between students and food service staff.

Requirements

• Be a student committed to improving food systems on campus.
• Have a strong understanding of and desire to communicate via social media.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.
• Be able to prioritize work.
• Have problem-solving aptitude.
• Have strong computer skills, including MS Office, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Parkhurst management team to identify standard operating procedures that could be adjusted to be more environmentally friendly.
• Promote food waste reduction and compostable collection across dining facilities.
• Help convert on-the-go packaging to compostable alternatives.
• Assist with organizing and communicating local and sustainable luncheons or dinners as part of sustainable development goals integration.
• Potentially design campus campaigns in collaboration with the social media intern.
• Potentially help increase transparency of campus food systems and build relationships between students and food service staff.
