Role Overview The Sushi Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications. Able to work efficiently and quickly. Hygiene and cleanliness are among the top priorities of this position. Must be able to follow directions, stay organized, be punctual and attentive. This position is eligible for paid tips.

Requirements

  • Must be able to provide documentation that shows you are authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a minimum of two (2) years experience in a contemporary dining restaurant
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in high-end, service-focused environment.
  • ANSI approved Food Handler Card and Responsible Beverage Service certificate recognized by the ABC.

Responsibilities

  • Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish.
  • Inspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes and informing the Executive Chef when quality is sub-standard.
  • Preparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
  • Maintaining a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination.
  • Regularly taking inventory of food supplies and other products.
  • Reporting any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty.
  • Sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use.
  • Communicating with wait staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met.
  • Must be a highly organized individual with the ability to handle numerous tasks at a time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintains a "sense of urgency" attitude for the completion of responsibilities/tasks
