About The Position

OceanaGold is seeking a Surveyor to maintain surface and underground survey processes to ensure the achievement of project strategic objectives at the Haile Gold Mine in South Carolina. This role involves accurately marking up development designs and surface infrastructure, establishing scheduling systems, managing works to avoid impacting the critical path, identifying and mitigating schedule risks, and seeking opportunities to accelerate work. The Surveyor will also be responsible for preparing reports, designing and implementing reporting systems, delivering project estimates and budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and maintaining a register of mine planning risks and opportunities. Ensuring all activities meet specified standards and are fit for purpose is crucial.

  • 2+ years' relevant experience in surveying role preferably surface construction or surface/underground mining
  • Degree in Surveying
  • Driver’s license
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain surface and underground survey processes to ensure achievement of project strategic objectives.
  • Accurately mark-up development designs.
  • Accurately mark-up surface infrastructure.
  • Establish scheduling systems for all activities required to effectively execute the Underground Project.
  • Actively manage works under area of control to ensure no impact on the critical path of the schedule.
  • Identify possible upcoming schedule risks within area of control and initiate control measures to mitigate effects on overall project schedule.
  • Actively look for opportunities to accelerate works to provide schedule opportunities in area of control.
  • Prepare reports on all projects and communicate to all relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Design and implement value adding reporting systems.
  • Deliver project estimates and budgets to the required degree of accuracy within scope of control.
  • Actively look for opportunities to implement cost savings without affecting safety, schedule or quality.
  • Prepare and maintain an active register identifying all mine planning risks and opportunities for the project.
  • Ensure all activities within area of control are completed to the specifications nominated for the works being undertaken.
  • Ensure all works under area of control are completed to a standard that is fit for purpose and meets the end users’ requirements.
