About The Position

This position is responsible for mine survey control. The Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the basic principles of land surveying.
  • Knowledge of the means, methods, practices, and techniques used to operate GPS survey instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Ability to read and interpret mine engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to manage one's own time.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must have knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use basic trigonometry, algebra, and geometry.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be self-directed.
  • Accuracy in reporting results is a must.
  • A Drone Pilot License is required to conduct drone surveys.
  • If you don't already have one, you must be able to quickly take and pass the FAA Drone Pilot License exam within a reasonable amount of time from being hired into this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of mining experience is preferred.
  • GPS machine control systems (Carlson CAD Software, CAT Terrain) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to download field data from GPS equipment to computer.
  • Build projects, manage files, and troubleshoot Dozer GPS Systems.
  • Prepare all data, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Conduct survey operations to provide timely and accurate survey of daily operations.
  • Cleans and provides general maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
  • Must be able and qualified to operate equipment and vehicles as required for the job. This includes having a valid driver’s license in order to operate the vehicles.
  • Assists with insuring that necessary supplies are available to perform survey work assignments.
