About The Position

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Surveying Technician – Office (MicroStation ORD/AutoCAD Civil3D) in Peoria or Normal, IL. This role involves working independently to obtain records and project information, preparing complex drawings from field data and sketches using computer-aided drafting software, and adhering to company and client CAD standards. The technician will exercise independent judgment in executing surveying deliverables, communicate ideas for drawing execution, design, and layout, maintain schedules, and mentor less experienced technicians.

Requirements

6+ years previous surveying experience
Valid US driver's license & good driving record
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to operate in a mentor / mentee team atmosphere
Ability to understand and utilize current & new technology
Safety oriented
Excellent communication skills
Positive and collaborative work ethic
Experience with MS Office products (Word & Excel)

Nice To Haves

10+ years previous surveying experience
Expert/advanced understanding of land surveying and geometry.
Expert knowledge of AutoCAD C3D and/or MicroStation ORD
CST1 or CST 2 or CST 3 (certified survey technician level 1 or 2 or 3) certification.
Experienced with Aerial Drone and 3D Point Cloud scanning technology.

Responsibilities

Work independently to obtain records & project information
Prepares complex drawings from field data and field sketches using computer-aided drafting software platforms and ensures drawings are accurate and complete.
Adheres to company and client standard CAD procedures as mandated.
Exercises independent judgment in the execution of surveying deliverables.
Communicates ideas for drawing execution, design and layout.
Maintains schedules and communicates progress on a daily basis.
Mentors less experienced surveying technicians and offers advice & knowledge.
