About The Position

Snohomish County Facilities & Fleet is seeking a temporary AutoCad Technician for the Project and Maintenance teams. The department seeks a knowledgeable CAD technician to assist the project team and maintenance team with poly-lining floor plans. The role requires knowledge of reading blue prints, using AutoCad for floor plans manipulation, and use of software programs for upload. BASIC FUNCTION To perform technical computer aided drafting and design (CADD) in support of facility related projects. Create closed boundary polylines for space planning, facility management, or building area calculations and/or chargebacks.

Requirements

• An Associate of Arts degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting (CADD)
• Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD software
• Strong attention to detail
• Understanding drafting standards
• Basic technical drawing skills
• 150+ hours of software experience OR any combination of training and or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of commercial facility drawings
• Knowledge of AutoCAD software to input, manipulate or edit floor plans
• Knowledge of AutoCAD software to produce floorplans used to locate people and equipment
• Knowledge of the organization, structure and function of county government
• Knowledge of business writing and report preparation
• Knowledge of maintaining required records and preparing necessary reports
• Knowledge of application of relevant federal, state and local laws, codes, rules, regulations and guidelines
• Knowledge of research and analysis techniques
• Knowledge of client interaction and project management
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in a multicultural workforce serving a diverse population
• Ability to prepare clear and concise written reports and presentations
• Ability to prioritize and resolve problems
• Ability to exercise initiative and judgment and make decisions within the scope of assigned responsibility
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with elected officials, department heads, associates, subordinates and the general public
• Ability to analyze and solve work related problems.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in data management and automation skills is desired.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD software and Microsoft Office.
• Some experience with GIS and SQL is desired.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance in interpreting floor plans, entering polyline data using AutoCAD and interfacing with Facilities computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Supports the entry, coding, and organization of data, including typing tabular information or the CMMS database.
• Helps modify and edit AutoCAD drawings in accordance with established specifications and procedures.
• Contributes to the preparation reports and related materials, as assigned.
• Supports operation of computer equipment and software as required.
• Aids in preparing documents and procedures and maintains records of completed assignments.
• Performs related duties as required.
