About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is seeking a full-time, unlimited Surveying Technician II. This role involves performing intermediate-level survey technician duties in both field and office settings, supporting land surveying and/or engineering projects. The Survey Section provides land survey expertise to DOTI and other city agencies, reviewing development projects, assisting with land acquisition, and reviewing plats and site plans. This position is crucial for controlling right-of-way, development location, and protecting city assets.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
• Two (2) years of experience of the type and level of Surveying Technician.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
• Ability to successfully work within a team or crew environment
• Willingness to perform tasks that are generally repetitive
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to ever-changing job parameters and priorities
• Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
• Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Working as a lead member of a survey crew
• Provide final design survey deliverables utilizing AutoCAD (topographic maps)
• Research city records
• Perform boundary and right-of-way surveys
• Perform and/or review horizontal and vertical control surveys
• Conduct QA/QC checks on construction projects
• Executes a variety of mathematical computations in support of the various projects
• Perform construction layout for engineering projects
