About The Position

We are seeking a Survey Technician to join our survey team. This position includes office-based survey drafting and opportunities to be in the field. You'll spend most of your time drafting with Civil 3D/Auto CAD and conducting research and working with legal descriptions. You'll have the option to work from your home or from our Madison office, or a combination of those two options when completing office work. Most of our survey work is in WI, MN, IL, and IA so we are looking for someone who is willing to travel within this area. Some extended travel may be required occasionally, including overnight stays. Requirements

  • Associates or bachelor's degree in land surveying or a related field.
  • At least 2 years' experience.
  • Highly proficient with Civil 3D/AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with Bluebeam.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of land surveying principles.
  • Strong understanding of boundary determination.
  • Strong understanding of topographic data collection.
  • Experience using survey equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, levels, and data collectors.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Collaborative mindset.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in telecommunications, construction, or the civil engineering industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various types of on-site surveys, including boundary, topographic, and construction staking.
  • Ensure accurate data collection to meet project specifications and requirements.
  • Draft surveys in Civil 3D/AutoCAD, preparing base maps, plats, and construction exhibits.
  • Conduct research and support the team with additional office-related work.
  • Keep all stakeholders informed.
  • Travel within WI, MN, IL, and IA.
  • Occasionally travel extended distances, including overnight stays.
  • Enjoy being outdoors in all types of weather and site conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Traverse rugged terrain.
  • Complete hand excavations.
  • Set corners/stakes with a large hammer.
