About The Position

The Survey Technician Supervisor position with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) offers a hands-on leadership opportunity that supports accurate surveying for major projects. Requirements

• One year of experience as a Survey Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• Four years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments
• Two years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology
• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
• Meet the PA residency requirement
• Be able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

• Oversee field measurements and electronic data downloads for survey activities
• Guide staff in using both manual and electronic surveying instruments and related tools
• Prepare daily and weekly work plans to support efficient field operations
• Examine field records for accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting for design systems
• Ensure work zones follow safety rules and protect employees, equipment, and the public
• Provide training, coaching, and evaluation of survey team members
