About The Position

We are seeking a Survey Rod Person I, with an innovative mindset, strong time management skills, organization, good work ethic, and someone ready to make an impact in the communities ETM serves.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a survey rod person or related field experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Basic understanding of surveying principles and equipment is advantageous.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina and ability to carry and set up surveying equipment.
  • Detail-oriented with good observational and recording skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup and adjustment of surveying instruments, such as total stations, levels, and data collectors.
  • Carry and transport surveying equipment to and from job sites.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper care of surveying tools and equipment.
  • Assist in organizing and inventory management of surveying supplies and materials.
  • Support the survey crew by holding and positioning the survey rod or prism pole during measurements.
  • Assist in taking accurate measurements using surveying instruments as directed by the survey crew chief or surveyor.
  • Record measurement data or observations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist in marking reference points or stakes on the ground as required.
  • Assist the survey crew in setting up survey control points and benchmarks.
  • Help with the transportation and setup of surveying equipment at job sites.
  • Work collaboratively with the survey crew to ensure smooth and efficient surveying operations.
  • Follow instructions and guidance from the survey crew chief or surveyor.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Report any safety concerns or hazards to the survey crew chief or surveyor.
  • Assist in the documentation and organization of survey data, including field notes, measurements, and observations.
  • Provide accurate and complete information for data entry into surveying software or databases.
  • Help maintain accurate and organized survey records.
  • Communicate effectively with the survey crew and follow instructions from the survey crew chief or surveyor.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective coordination and workflow.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
