About The Position

The Survey Project Specialist reports directly to the Technical Survey Manager and, under minimum supervision, works on a wide range of cadastral projects for SRP. This requires broad knowledge and understanding of applied land surveying principles and practices on a variety of projects including commercial, residential, retail and government. Responsibilities include: overseeing multiple projects; communicating with clients, technicians and field crews; coordinating with internal clients and contractors, to deliver services timely and efficiently. Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: establishing priorities and schedules for projects; providing quality assurance control; preparing or reviewing all documents and maps requiring the seal of a Registered Land Surveyor; interacting cooperatively with local area survey professionals; prepare or oversee the completion of ALTA s, Results-of-Survey s, Delineation maps, and legal descriptions.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 15 college credits (100+) related to the position from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Candidate must have Arizona Land Surveyor Registration which includes successful completion of the professional land surveyor examination.
  • The Arizona Land Surveyor Registration requires active engagement in education or experience, or both, in the profession for which registration is sought for at least six years as noted in the "Rules of the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration".
  • Candidate must then have a minimum of one year of prior related job work experience as a Registered Land Surveyor. (Total = seven years of experience)
  • Must be qualified as a "Surveyor a SR" or "Technician Engineering SR".
  • Must be a current Arizona Registered Land Surveyor.
  • Must be able to perform the physical aspects of a Surveyor A SR. and the technical requirements of an Engineering SR. Tech.
  • Due to the interaction with internal and external clients the successful candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • This position also requires candidate to be able to read, write and interpret survey reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Registration as a certified federal surveyor (CFedS) is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned cadastral projects.
  • Define, analyze and solve field and technician problems of a professional surveying nature.
  • Create estimates for lead surveying projects requiring not to exceed cost proposals.
  • Responsible charge of reviewing, analyzing and drafting survey documents that require stamping by a registered land surveyor.
  • Meet with land surveyors, and other land and construction professionals to resolve any survey related challenges encountered in the development of Land Surveying products.
  • Assists with the investigation of survey and construction problems.
  • Make recommendations and implement actions to resolve problems.
  • Assist with the training of survey personnel to improve survey skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Prepare and discuss project reviews with survey management.
  • Function as a Senior Survey Technician, when directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
