About The Position

Ardurra is seeking a Survey Party Chief with > 2 years of Survey Party Chief experience to join our staff in Cape Coral, Florida. Candidate must be proficient in various field crew operations. The Primary Function of this role is to report directly to the Survey Group Leader and receive project assignments and directions from various Survey Project Managers. This role is responsible for the completion of various field surveying assignments by using procedures and techniques appropriate to the task or assignment to be completed. The Survey Party Chief will clearly and legibly record all pertinent field notes and information in proper field books as required based on task assignment. Field Crew Leaders are responsible for training, direct supervision and safety of all field technicians as assigned. They ensure all appropriate safety procedures, precautions, and traffic control devices are properly placed prior to the start of daily field survey operations. The role is responsible for the organization, maintenance, and safe operation of assigned survey vehicles. The Survey Party Chief reports to the Field Crew Manager and Project Surveyor for daily project briefings and debriefings. They are responsible for uploading and downloading field data daily or as directed. Some survey project assignments may require travel including overnight stays.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • > 2 years of Survey Party Chief I experience; candidate must be proficient in various field crew operations
  • Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Capable of solving problems using basic Trigonometric and Geometric functions
  • Ability to work and carry heavy objects in extreme weather conditions and harsh terrain
  • Proficient with use of field data collector, electronic total station, and digital and optical levels
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Functional with Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Must be team-oriented and self-motivated
  • Must have valid Driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of assigned field technicians
  • Proficient with and properly uses all survey equipment and devices required for completion of survey tasks and assignments
  • Prepares clear, concise, and legible field notes
  • Direction and assistance with clearing of brush and trees on lines using various brush clearing tools
  • Properly place appropriate safety and traffic control devices daily, prior to start of work
  • Properly wear appropriate safety equipment and clothing
  • Location of metallic markers using magnetic location equipment
  • Trains inexperienced staff for setting up tripods and proper use of survey equipment
  • Ensures work truck is well organized, clean, and stocked with day-to-day supplies
  • Ensures all equipment batteries are properly charged and stored for use
  • Proficient with use of data collector setup and capable of troubleshooting problems
  • Daily uploading and downloading data files, notes and other survey project related reports
  • Uses prescribed point and line coding, and correctly saves collected points
  • Represents the company in a respectful, polite, and professional manner
  • Uses proper field procedures for conducting various types of surveys
  • Identifies toxic plants, dangerous animals, and insects
  • Capable of common tree identifications
  • Trains others in basic first aid
  • Familiar with Standards of Practice for Surveyors as related to General Surveying and Mapping as well as Boundary Surveying procedures
  • Obtain OSHA 10-hour safety certification course (company provided)
