About The Position

Atwell, LLC is a leading consulting, engineering, and construction services firm serving the real estate & land development, and energy markets. We are seeking a Survey Crew Chief to perform various survey activities, including leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and profile and cross-section surveys. The role involves operating Trimble survey equipment, measuring distances, angles, and elevations, reviewing field calculations, and locating control points. The Survey Crew Chief will also be responsible for preparing field notes, completing as-built drawings, maintaining company vehicles and equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. Additionally, this position requires the ability to interpret engineering plans and assist in training and developing crew members.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role performing boundary, ALTA, Asbuilt, and Construction Staking surveys
Ability to effectively communicate with contractors, inspectors and team leaders.
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Trimble equipment (preferred)

Responsibilities

Commute to and from sites daily in a company-provided truck.
Perform survey activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and profile and cross-section surveys.
Set up, adjust, and operate Trimble survey equipment including total station, data collector, and GPS equipment.
Measure distances, angles, and elevations for staking purposes.
Reviewing survey field calculations and adjusting when needed.
Locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control.
Utilizing Trimble equipment to measure all utility points including curb and gutter, water & sewer, storm drain, and paving.
Prepare accurate field notes and complete as-built drawings.
Responsible for maintaining work-issued vehicles, laptops, and survey equipment.
Follow Atwell’s safety protocols.
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans.
