George F. Young, Inc. (GFY) is seeking a highly motivated Survey Crew Chief to join our growing survey team. As a Survey Crew Chief, you will plan, organize, and direct the work of one or more crew members engaged in surveying to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, or other purposes by performing the following responsibilities and duties:

Requirements

Must have a thorough knowledge of generally accepted land survey procedures and field execution of work, and accurate note-keeping for boundary, topographic, and construction surveying.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Experience with Topographic Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Construction Layout, & GPS Surveys.
High school diploma or its equivalent.
Minimum 3-years of experience.
Capable of taking clear, legible field notes.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to work outdoors, in various weather and terrain conditions.
Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and direct the work of one or more crew members engaged in surveying to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, or other purposes.
Read and understand civil engineering and survey plans.
Operate and/or direct the operation of an electronic data collector, GPS equipment, optical & robotic total station, and digital & optical leveling equipment.
Make informed decisions in the field.
Motivate, train, & lead crew & staff members on proper field procedures.
