About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our Survey Geospatial Team in Norwell, MA. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day field activities that support critical transportation projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong team coordination. This opportunity is ideal for a driven leader who combines technical expertise with a collaborative approach and takes pride in delivering reliable, high-quality survey data.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience required
  • Strong knowledge of surveying practices, field procedures, and industry standards
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment over uneven terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required with the ability to travel short-term

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
  • knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team‑coordination skills with the ability to represent the firm professionally with clients and the broader public
  • NSPS‑CST Level II certification preferred
  • LSIT preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead field crew members through daily survey assignments, ensuring safe, efficient, and well‑coordinated field operations in alignment with safety protocols and quality assurance standards
  • Perform record research, construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, transportation, and utility surveys utilizing total stations, data collectors, and GPS
  • Review legal documents, plans, and project materials to accurately plan and execute surveying projects and task goal establishment
  • Create and verify field sketches and field computations related to traversing, map interpretation, and layout
