About The Position

Fortress Investment Group LLC is a leading, highly diversified global investment manager. This role is for a Compliance Officer within the asset management division of its Asset-Based Credit Group, which is part of the Credit Funds business. The Asset-Based Credit Group focuses on a broad mandate of investment opportunities across the capital structure in the specialty finance sector, including consumer finance, commercial finance, and other contractual cash flowing receivable assets. The team generally concentrates on lending against and acquiring assets originated by companies across these sectors, with an investment model emphasizing deep industry and asset class specific research along with substantial data analysis. The Compliance Officer will join the New York office (in-person) and will be involved in pre-closing due diligence work as well as regular post-closing surveillance audits on closed transactions. This role requires extensive travel, approximately 80% of the time, primarily domestic, with some international travel possible.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience in accounting, banking or rating agency work.
  • Knowledge and experience with consumer finance or asset backed securities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular forensic surveillance audits on closed transactions to ensure compliance with legal documents and adherence to counterparts’ underwriting guidelines.
  • Participate in upfront due diligence with counterparts on potential transactions.
  • Plan the engagement with internal team members and counterparts.
  • Develop standard procedures for each counterpart.
  • Conduct fieldwork reviews.
  • Report findings in both oral and written reports to internal management.
  • Review historical portfolio data for use in future due diligence reviews.
  • Identify adverse trends which may be indicative of potential collateral problems.
