Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience with M365 applications: Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Likes working with and analyzing numbers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service and problem-resolution skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years experience in the insurance industry and admitted vs. non-admitted markets, is preferred, but not required
  • Surplus lines tax filing experience or knowledge is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Processing surplus lines transactions on the states that have been assigned, within the deadlines set by those state entities. Including, but not limited to, surplus lines document review, forwarding policy documents to states (if required), and logging transactions for reporting states.
  • Completing and submitting tax reports on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and/or annual basis; involves generating reports; verifying data for accuracy; reconciling data to production records and resolving differences timely, processing check/ACH requests, and meeting all filing deadlines.
  • Updating Tax Filings tab with the status of the tax filing on each transaction.
  • Updating Filings Calendar with comments and status on each tax payment
  • Scanning and uploading completed reports, supporting documents, and payment confirmations
  • Researching, monitoring and implementing any changes required to ensure compliance with each state’s surplus lines requirements.
  • Communicating with production teams regarding missing tax compliance documents; errors to be researched and revisions to be made.
  • Escalating issues timely to managers for assistance in resolution
  • Keeping manager apprised of any state updates, if these have not already been communicated by our Corporate Compliance team.
  • Coordinating with, and backing up, other Surplus Lines Tax Specialists.
