About The Position

Lanier Technical College – Hall County campus is conducting a search for a full-time, salaried, FLSA-exempt, benefit-eligible position. This role serves as both Program Director and Instructor for the Surgical Technology Program, providing leadership and instruction. A background check, professional reference check, and potentially a post-hire clinical-site specific background check and 11-panel drug screen are part of the selection process. Requirements

  • Associates degree in Surgical Technology from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist through a national certifying credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
  • Five (5) total years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten (10) years.
  • Ability to assist the Dean by providing leadership and with the development and execution of the operational plan for the Surgical Technology program.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, and juggle multiple & competing priorities.
  • Ability to supervise students in the classroom.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans.
  • Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies.
  • Ability to observe and mentor faculty.
  • Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the college.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster professional relationships within the college’s service area.
  • Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Teaching experience in a health science related field at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience teaching with Blackboard LMS.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and instruction for the Surgical Technology Program.
  • Provides leadership in the discipline to ensure the quality and success of the department.
  • Works with faculty to promote continuous improvement in the quality of instruction within the Surgical Technology program.
  • Coordinates, collects, and submits input from program faculty on: course offering rotations and scheduling, instructional program planning and curriculum review, Surgical Technology program budgetary requests, program advisory committee meetings and documentation, accreditation and compliance documentation and administrative reports, hiring, on-boarding and orientation of faculty, textbook and instructional material selection, and student learning outcome documentation.
  • Manages program marketing and recruitment efforts.
  • Develops program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Prepares lesson plans.
  • Evaluates student progress.
  • Maintains program certification requirements as appropriate.
  • Advises and mentors students.
  • Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Teaches Surgical Technology courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that simulates the industry environment, while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments.
  • Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Surgical Technology.
  • Evaluates learning outcomes for continuous student and program success.
