About The Position
The Surgical Technologist - Main Operating Room position is a per diem role located in Skokie, IL. The primary function is to identify and obtain necessary surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies based on physician requests and patient needs. This role involves inspecting and caring for surgical instruments, performing scrub responsibilities, and anticipating the surgeon's needs during procedures. The technologist must ensure a safe environment and communicate effectively with patients of all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved surgical technology program
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
- Previous experience in surgery or on-the-job experience
Nice To Haves
- Certification in surgical technology preferred
Responsibilities
- Identifies and obtains the required surgical instrumentation, equipment and supplies required for surgical procedures based on physicians request and the needs of patient; exchanges drug trays as needed under the direction of licensed medical staff.
- Inspects, properly cares for and handles surgical instrumentation and equipment appropriately.
- Performs scrub responsibilities according to physician's preference and hospital policies and procedures.
- Anticipates, and is attentive to, the surgeon's needs for instruments, ligatures, sponges, irrigation, etc. during the surgical procedure.
- Demonstrates the skills necessary to provide a safe environment and communicate effectively with all age groups of patients – pediatric through geriatric.
